The Christian life is not a Sunday stroll through a rose garden; it demands a well-balanced disciplined life. Prayer and Bible study are the top disciplines required for a very demanding race. While writing to the Corinthians, Paul wanted them to know that he was willing to give his all to reach the finish line and win the eternal prize.
We sometimes bear a weak witness for Christ because of our lack of focus on the things that matter to God. Our mission as a Christ follower is to run the race set before us. Why, because running takes the focus off us and places it on the One we are running towards. Our mission is to run the race and glorify God. We can do this in many ways. However, it boils down to the opportunities we have to tell friends and family about the love we know through the cross of Jesus.
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that YOU may obtain it.” 1 Corinthians 9:24
