Every night many people go to bed hungry, while others don’t know what it’s like to go even one day without food. Those who are blessed are able to eat and be satisfied. However, the satisfaction lasts only a short time before the need is felt to eat again.
In John 6, we see some seek to follow Jesus simply because they believe He might provide for the physical needs like God provided manna in the wilderness for the children of Israel. The crowd desired Jesus to do something greater than Moses if they were to believe in Him. They did not see that Jesus was offering so much more than temporary satisfaction. He was offering the Bread that will never perish.
Jesus still extends this offer to all who will come. He alone gives lasting satisfaction. Our hearts were created to only be satisfied in a relationship with Jesus. Throughout this day, allow Him to satisfy your hungry heart!
“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.’” John 6:35
