We’ve all known someone who was always confident in their own abilities. They always seemed to handle each situation with ease and maybe even a with little grace. That really isn’t one of my gifts, but I think a certain level of confidence is important.

I believe the apostle Paul probably had a little confidence. As he wrote young Timothy, Paul stressed that nothing could impact the confidence he had in Christ. Not his imprisonment and abuse, not shipwreck, or even stoning. It didn’t matter what Paul suffered, his confidence in Christ grew!

Like Paul, the key is the object of your confidence. Paul’s confidence was in Christ. Life is full of ups and downs. Still, even though you may struggle with self-confidence, never lose sight of the love that God has for you!

“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Tim 1:12
