Do you remember a few years ago when the new big thing was to say, “Talk to the hand?” It seemed to be used entirely too much, never the less, it was said often in open defiance from someone with an obstinate reaction against something they didn’t want to hear. With an outstretched arm and a turned up head it meant, “I’m not listening to anything you have to say.”
It may seem a bit rude, but at times you may encounter a Holy God with His righteous outstretched hand implying, “I’m not listening.” Why would God EVER not be willing to listen to yours, mine or their prayers? I ask because there are many occasions where we pray to no avail. It does seem that God isn’t listening, and if He is, He is certainly not answering. I hope to make this clear. God in His righteousness doesn’t hear us when we pray with unconfessed sin in our hearts. The Bible makes this clear!
Here is the good news; there is a way to heard. You must approach God with true humility. Approach Him with praise on your lips and repentance in your heart. This attitude pleases God and in return He will open the blessings of heaven! Join us this Sunday as we talk about the Power of Prayer!
“If I regard iniquity/sin in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” Psalm 68:18
