By now you have either heard of or have watched the movie, “God’s Not Dead.” If by chance you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to take your family to the movies and watch it. It is worth the price of admission.
Josh Wheaton, who is a devoted Christian and freshman college student, enrolls in a philosophy class taught by a rigid and argumentative atheist. Professor Radisson demands that all his students sign a declaration stating “God is dead” in order to get a passing grade. Faced with a choice between passing the class and betraying his beliefs, Josh stands for his faith. Since Josh is the only student not to sign the declaration, the professor gives him an opportunity to defend his position that “God’s not dead” in a series of debates with him, with the class members ultimately deciding who wins.
Both Professor Radisson and Josh make compelling points from their stance. However, Josh questions Radisson, asking why he hates God and after Radisson gives his response, Josh asks Radisson how he can hate someone that he doesn’t believe exists. In the end, every member of Josh’s class, stand up and say “God’s Not Dead”, causing Radisson to leave the room in defeat.
If you are someone, who, for some reason believes “God is dead,” I challenge you to look at the evidence. The Bible says in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–His eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Look around, does the sun shine, the wind blow, flowers bloom all without a Creator? I say NO!
As the world prepares to celebrate Easter as a commercialized holiday filled with fluffy bunnies, I hope to encourage you to stand with God. Acknowledge to humanity that “God’s Not Dead!” Shout from the roof top that Easter is about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Let everyone you love know, “God’s Not Dead,” He is Risen!!
“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” Revelation 1:18
