Mr. Jones took out a life insurance policy on himself for $1 million and named his wife as the beneficiary. Two years later, Mr. Jones reportedly was killed when his small plane crashed in the ocean. Although the wreckage of the plane was recovered, Mr. Jones’s body was not.
Eventually, Mrs. Jones collected the $1 million from the insurance policy. As a wealthy widow, she began to travel abroad and to live a life of luxury. However, all of this came to in the end when Mr. Jones was discovered to be very much alive and living in a foreign country under an assumed name.
Easter is the celebration of a man named Jesus who REALLY DID DIE! His body was actually buried. However, Jesus’ body WAS RESURRECTED on Easter morning. There were many eye witnesses to the fact that Christ both died and rose from the dead.
The gospel writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) have provided many details of the burial of Jesus. Documentation also is provided for his remarkable resurrection. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are historical facts. They also are events that are crucial to our faith. Let us rejoice as Christ followers, that we have a living Savior whose name is Jesus and let us worship Him this Easter Sunday and every day that follows!
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies.”’ John 11:25
